862,903. Windscreen wipers. LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd., J. Dec. 24, 1959 [Oct. 1, 1958], No. 31390/58. Class 138(1). A windscreen wiper has a wiper blade 4 mounted on a rectangular frame 1 which is reciprocated vertically by a rotary member 5 driven by an electric motor and having a projection 9 which rotates a crank arm 8 connected to the frame 1 by a spring 10. If movement. of the blade 4 is prevented, e.g. by mud or snow, the spring 10 yields to permit continued rotation of the member 5. If desired a scraper may be mounted on the frame 1.
