Abstract

1381818 Windscreen wipers ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 5 April 1972 [6 April 1971] 15770/72 Heading A4F In a windscreen wiper system having a control arm for pivoting a wiper blade 23 relative to its motor driven wiper arm 22 during pivotal movement of the arm, the control arm 27 is mounted on a pivot 26 reciprocably movable relative to the wiper arm 22 by a drive linkage connected to the windscreen wiper motor 10 along a path determined by the linkage. The spindle 17 carrying the wiper arm 22 is oscillated by the motor 10 via a crank 13, connecting rod 15, and rocker 16. The motor 10 also oscillates via the rod 15 and linkage 31, 30 a sleeve on the spindle 17 to which is secured a plate 25 carrying the pivot pin 26 which is moved in an arcuate path 35. The control arm 27 is thereby operated so that the wiper blade 23 moves from its outer end position shown to an inner end position substantially perpendicular to the lower edge of the windscreen. A second wiper blade (not shown) is driven by a similar mechanism coupled to a second connecting rod 15. In a further embodiment Figs.3 to 5 (not shown) the drive mechanism is so constructed that the two wiper blades are each oscillated between an outer end position parallel to a side edge of the windscreen and an inner position, parallel to the lower edge of the windscreen.
