Abstract

952,787. Television pick-up tubes. WESTINGHOUSE ELECTRIC CORPORATION. Jan. 29, 1962 [Feb. 10, 1961], No. 3308/62. Heading H1D. In a vidicon the mesh electrode 48 adjacent the target 40 and the wall anode 32 are operated at different potentials to form a plano-convex electrostatic lens ensuring normal beam landing at all points of the target even if, when the photo-conductive target layer 46 is deposited by evaporation, the layer 46 is thicker at the centre than at the edges. The wall anode 32 may be an envelope coating.
