Abstract
676,817. Cathode-ray tubes. CINEMATELEVISION, Ltd., and FREEMAN, G. S. P. Jan. 25, 1951 (Jan. 26, 1950], No. 2083/50. Class 39 (i). The target electrode 2 of an image iconoscope 1 is flooded with low velocity photo-electrons from a photo-sensitive surface 5 separate from the main photo-sensitive cathode 3 with an electron permeable electrode or electrode in close proximity thereto. This surface 5 in the form of a coating overlies and is insulated from the wall anode and is in two or more portions, and the electron permeable electrode 6 is electrically connected to the wall anode. A ring of lamps is disposed outside the tube with individual or group control of brightness, and the various sections of the photo-sensitive surface are connected to individually variable potentials to give a masking effect or to compensate for brightness variation in the lamps. The photo-sensitive surface is at a potential of up to ten volts negative with respect to the final wall anode.
