Abstract

636,107. Electron beam apparatus. TRIGGS, W. W. (Farnsworth Television & Radio Corporation). Feb. 6, 1946, No. 3783. [Class 39 (i)]À [Also in Group XL (c)] An arrangement for producing an output signal which is the time derivative of an input signal comprises a cathode-ray tube in which an electron beam is intensity-modulated by an input signal and passes through and induces the differentiated output in ring electrode 17 before impinging on anode 12, and the arrangement further comprises an electrode 16 extending most of the way from the electron gun to the anode 12 and maintained at a constant D.C. potential. The anode 12 may be negative, positive, or at the same potential with reference to gun anode 7, and the input signal is applied to control grid 6. Electrode 16 is a metallic coating on the inner wall of the envelope, and may be connected to either gun anode 7 or anode 12. Coil 30 provides a magnetic focusing field. Specification 478,095 is referred to.
