Abstract
634,652. Electron image tubes. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd. Oct. 17, 1946, No. 30974. Convention date, Nov. 28, 1945. [Class 39 (i)] In an orthicon tube, shading due to non- uniform landing of the beam on the target 3 is minimized by balancing the behind motion of the electron produced by the deflection coils 12 against the behind motion produced by the decelerating electrode 26. This is achieved in Fig. 4 by mounting the deflection coils on a rack 28 operated by a pinion 29 so that the position of the coils can be varied. In this way behind motion due to the non-homogensity of the deflecting field can be corrected ; behind motion due to misalignment of the electrode is corrected by the coil 14 as described in Specification 616,700. The decelerating electrode 26 may be in the form of a ring, as in Fig. 4, or in the form of a grid, Fig. 6 (not shown). Specification 634,639 also is referred to.
