Abstract
612,906. Cathode - ray tubes. BULL, E. W. June 6, 1946, No. 17143. [Class 39 (i)] Magnetic deflection means for a cathode-ray tube comprises a rectangular iron yoke 1 on two limbs of which are wound the main deflecting coils 5 and 6. On the other two limbs are wound compensating coils 9, 10, 11, 12, each of which may have oneeighth the number of turns of the main coils; these are connected in series with the main coils and serve to maintain the magnetic field uniform. Another system of main and compensating coils may also be wound over the yoke 1 to provide for scanning in a direction at right angles to the first system. The Provisional Specification also describes an arrangement in which the main coils are wound only over the ends of the limbs and there are no compensating coils. This is also stated to produce a uniform magnetic field.
