Abstract
402,460. Cathode-ray tubes. ELECTRICAL & MUSICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd., Hayes, Middlesex, and McGEE, J. D., 184, Haverstock Hill, London. June 2, 1932, No. 15693. [Class 39 (i).] A cathode-ray tube is provided with an apertured control electrode and two or more apertured auxiliary electrodes, one at least of which is in the form of an annulus having a frusto-conical or dished shape. In the form shown in Fig. 1, a tube contains an indirectlyheated cathode 5, a frustoconically shaped auxiliary electrode 9 and cylindrical control and auxiliary electrodes 7, 11 which are provided with apertured diaphragms. The anode 6 consists of a metallic deposit on the tube, preferably on both the cylindrical and the conical portions thereof. In a modification, two or more frusto-conically shaped electrodes 9, 11, Fig. 3, are provided, the length of these electrodes and the vo tages thereon increasing directly in dependence upon their distance from the cathode. A numerical relationship between the electrode voltages and the distances therebetween is given in the Specification. The apertures, which may be covered with wire mesh, are smaller the greater the distance from the cathode.
