Abstract
936,286. Automatic bobbin changing looms. RUTI MACHINERY WORKS Ltd. Nov. 15, 1961 [Nov. 15, 1960], No. 40938/61. Class 142 (2). When bobbin changing is initiated, a suction head 2 is moved by parallel linkage 11, 12 on to the bottom bobbin in the magazine to draw off the tip bunch. As the transfer hammer inserts the bobbin into the shuttle, a striker 116 on the hammer depresses a jaw 108 into contact with a spring jaw 109 to grip the weft; a flap on the jaw 108 closes the suction mouth to prevent any further weft from being drawn in. A continuation of the jaw 108 on the opposite side of its pivot 106 comes above a latch 113, which snaps under it to hold the jaws closed after the suction head has returned to the right. If the tension on the weft becomes excessive, the spring jaw 109 permits some weft to be drawn out of the suction head. On the next beat-up movement, a striker 117 on the slay disengages the latch 113 to allow a torsion spring 111 to open the jaws. When the temple cutter operates, the tip bunch is disposed of through the suction pipe 3.
