Abstract

793,031. Looms with stationary weft supply. ANCET, V.M. J., and FAYOLLE, M. July 24. 1956 [Aug. 29, ,1955], No. 22861/56. Class 142(2) The weft inserter 4 carries at its fore end a thread gripper comprising a fixed jaw, formed by the underside of a threadcatching tongue 4d raised obliquely rearwardly, and a movable jaw 10a at the end of an oscillatable rod 6 and disposed beneath the tongue 4d. The movable jaw 10a is actuated by fixed cams 19 as the inserter is moved rearwardly through the shed, the cams engaging an arm 11 extending radially from the rod 6. A spring 12 serves to hold the jaw 10a in the closed position. The jaw 10a is housed in a recess provided in the base of the inserter 4. A cam-actuated cutter may be provided for cutting the weft, or in the case of light threads tension in the thread after closure of the gripper may be relied on to break the thread. The tongue 4d may extend from a flat fore portion 4b upon which, as the inserter emerges from the shredded warp, the picK 30 oil weft is pressed by edge warp threads 1.
