Class 142(2) In a loom having two shuttles picked simultaneously through superposed sheds, automatic bobbin-changing is effected by moving the shuttle box containing the depleted shuttle forwardly to bring it under the magazine at front dead centre, thereby enabling a fresh bobbin inserted by a hammer 21 to eject the spent bobbin through the bottom of the box. When a depleted upper shuttle is detected at the other end of the loom, an electromagnet 42 is energized to lift a latch 14 clear of the nose 11N of a floating lever 11, allowing it to swing to the right under the action of a spring 33 so that a notch in its rear edge engages a pin 13 on an arm 31; also, a link 27 swings a floating arm 26 to engage a notch in its rear edge with a pin 41 on an arm 28; in addition, the nose 11N displaces a lever 16 which acts through linkage 18, 19 to lift a hammer-operating dog 20 into the path of the slay. Cams 29, 30 on the crankshaft depress the arms 28, 31, the former acting through connections 41, 26. 25 on a parallel linkage 24 carrying the magazine 22, whereby the magazine is raised to the position shown; the arm 31 acts through connections 13, 10, 7, 5, 3 to slide the upper shuttle box 1 forward, so that it registers with the magazine at beat-up. The parts return to their normal positions when a pin 38 on the crankshaft pushes the floating lever 11 off the pin 13. The mechanism is duplicated to move the lower shuttle box 2 except that, in this case, there is no link from the floating lever 12 to the floating arm 26 as the magazine does not require to be raised.
