Abstract
829,453. Automatic weft replenishing looms. FISCHER A.G., G. July 18, 1957 [July 25, 1956], No. 22805/57. Class 142(2) In a loom having two shuttles picked simultaneously one above the other and in the same direction through two sheds, bobbin changing is controlled by mechanism which feels the weft in the shuttle and subsequently when the slay is at front centre, moves forward beneath the inserter the compartment housing the exhausted shuttle. When the lower shuttle is to be replenished, the mechanism for moving both shuttle compartments is operated, but cam means prevents movement of the upper compartment. The changing mechanism 6 is lowered to present the magazine' to the lower box. If both bobbins require replenishing the shuttle in the lower compartment is replenished first. If the shuttle in the top box is to be replenished, the corresponding feeler energizes a solenoid 92 and a latch 96 is raised and releases a bell crank lever 82. A spring 88 then turns the lever 82 and a roller 81 thereon pivots a latch 71 into engagement with a catch 43 on a lever 38. The lever 38 is pivoted by a roller 39 and a cam 9 and swings a lever 36 on which the latch 71 is mounted. The magazine is made ready for weft changing by the actuation of a linkage 34, 31, 29, 27, 25 and the bobbin is changed. If the lower box is to be replenished a solenoid 102 is energized and a latch 74 depressed to engage the catch 43. Rotation of the cam 9 now causes movement of a lever 58 carrying a toothed segment 57 and on which the latch 74 is mounted and also of the lever 36 by means of a pin 60 in the lever 58. Movement of the levers 36, 58 away from abutments 70 on hook levers 64, 65 permits one of these levers 64, 65 to fall, depending upon the position of cam surfaces 55, 56 mounted on a pinion 53 meshing with the toothed seg- ment 57. The lever which falls engages with its hooked end a pin 21 at the end of levers 15, 17 pivoted to the slay at 18, 19 and connected by members 10, 11 to the shuttle compartments 4, 5. When the slay moves forward, the lever 15 or 17 engaged by one of the levers 64, 65 is pivoted and moves the corresponding compartment 4 or 5 forward beneath the bobbin inserter.
