This invention relates 'to mechanism for replenishing weft supply in the shuttles of a multi-color automatic loom. Y e
It is the general object. of my invention to provide improved and simplified devices for rendering the bobbin-releasing and delivering devices operative upon indication of weft exhaustion. v I also provide an improved thread-cutter and shuttle placer for use in combination'with my improved weft replenishing mechanism. a
My invention further relates to arrangements and combinations of parts which will be hereinafter described and moreparticu larly pointed out in the appended claims.

This cutter and placerjcomprises a cam plate 80,(Figs. 4 to 6)-pivoted at 8,1 to said slide? 6 and having a cutter and placer jaw 82 fixed to said cam plate 'and'extending rearwardly therefrom. The cam plate has a cam groove 84 through which the fixed stud 72 extends and also has acamsurface 85 which engages a stud 86 ontheend of the slide plate 71.
A movablecutter jaw 87 (Fig.1) is pivoted I to the fixed jaw 82 at 88 and has a forwardly extending arm 89 provided with a'stud 90 engaginga cam surface- 91 on the under side of the cutter stand 7 5 as the cutter slide 7 6 is moved forward. If, however, substantial exhaustion of weft has caused the member 64 to be raised to the position shown in rFig. 11, the latch 61 will be shifted in the collar 60 and willengage the projection '58on the color slide 55, by which As the rock shaft 51 is moved clockwise in' Fig. 13, the lug 56 engages the right-hand end of the notch 57 and depresses thefinger 50, thus carrying the lifter bar 33 downward and swinging the lever 39 to release the weft cutter and shuttle placer.
This allows the cutter slide 7 6 to move rearward, during which movement the cam slot 84.- cooperates with the stud 72 to swing the cutter jaw and shuttle placer 82 angularly, causing the shuttle S to be moved to fully boxed position.
As the cutter slide is thereafter forced forward by the lay, the cam surface 85 on the cam plate 80 engages the stud 86, pulling the slide plate 71 downward, as viewed in Figs. 4, 5 and 6, and reversingthe position of the lever 39. Such reversal raises the lifter bar 33, which moves the depressed slide bars 30 upward and thus restores the parts to their original position.
It will thus be seen that I have provided a direct connection between the weft detector and the selecting and releasing mechanism of the magazine. By so doing, I am able to omit the chopper lever and associated parts previously used in this type of mechanism.
I have also provided a positive connection between the weft cutter and shuttle placer and the bobbin release by which the bobbin will be normally released as the lay closely approaches front center, the cutter slide being moved forward as a result of the engagement of one end of the front box plate P (Fig. with an abutment 140 on the cutter slide. If, however, the shuttle is so widely misplaced that the side of the shuttle, the cutter slide 76 will be pushed forward earlier in the cycle of movement of the layand the bobbin will be released before the lay reaches front center.
All parts of my improved mechanism are of a simple construction and operation and the various movements are accomplished with the least possible delay. 1
Having thus described my invention and the advantages thereof, I do not wish to be limited to the details herein disclosed, otherwise than as set forth in the claims,,but what I claim is 7 p 1.
