Abstract
Alloys having formability, corrosion resistance and good weldability contain in percentage by weight:- .Zn.1.25-3 Rare earth metals (0.04-0.2) X Zn content .Zr or Mn.0.2-0.8 .Zr or Mn.0.1-2 .Mg.balance In the alloys containing Mn, the rare earth metals may be replaced partially or entirely by Th in the ratio 1 part rare earth 1.6 parts Th; from 0.001 to 0.05% Zr may also be added to these alloys. Suitable rare earth metals are Ce, La, Pr, Nd or mischmetall. The alloy may be annealed at 370 DEG C. during rolling, and finally heat-treated at 275 DEG C.
