Abstract

1,195,814. Cooper base alloys. OLIN MATHIESON CHEMICAL CORP. Jan. 13, 1969 [Feb.20, 1968], No. 1812/69. Heading C7A. A hot workable copper base alloy comprising Sn 2-12% and 0À005-0À4% in total of Ce and/or misch metal, the balance, apart from impurities such as Fe 0À1% max. P 0À03% max. Pb 0À03% max. Zn 0À3% max. and 0À1% max. others, being copper, is preferably made by deoxidizing an appropriate melt by the addition of at least 0À05% of Ce and/or misch metal, in an amount sufficient to leave 0À005-0À4% thereof in the final alloy, and then casting the melt. The maximum initial hot working temperature is 790‹ C. and the hot worked alloy may also be cold worked.
