Abstract
1,194,696. Copper alloys. AMERICAN METAL CLIMAX Inc. Sept. 22, 1967 [Oct. 17, 1966], No.43163/67. Heading C7A. A Cu-base alloy consists, by weight, of Ni 25-35% Mn up to 3% Fe up to 1À5% C not more than 0À08% Ti 0À1-0À7% Be up to 0À6% Cu balance, apart from impurities, subject to the proviso that Be is at least 0À3% or Ti+Be is at least 0À5% but less than 1À2%. The following impurities should be kept below the proportions given: - Si 0À3% Pb 0À01% Zn 0À01% Sn 0À1% Bi 0À001% P 0À01% Bad effects due to sulphur may be minimized by the inclusion of Mg or Mn during melting. The alloy has good strength in the solution annealed and aged condition as well as in the cold-worked and aged condition. It is useful in applications requiring resistance to corrosion by hot sea water and fresh water.
