Abstract
1336695 Zinc based alloys CENTRE DE RECHERCHES METALLURGIQUES-CENTRUM VOOR RESEARCH IN DE METALLURGIE 21 Feb 1972 [19 Feb 1971] 7839/72 Heading C7A An alloy composition comprises, by wt per cent:- 2À8 to 3À2 copper 0À08 to 0À2 chromium, manganese, nickel lanadium and/or zirconium 0À2 to 0À3 titanium, cobalt, molybdenum, tantalum, vanadium, tungsten, zirconium, nickel and/or manganese 0À01 to 0À03 cadmium, lithium and/or beryllium 0À003 to 0À005 magnesium, lithium and/or beryllium 0À002 to 0À004 aluminium, nickel, silver, indium, silicon, yttrium and/or a lathamide the balance being zinc and impurities e.g. Pb, Sn, or Fe, and no two of the above constituents being provided by the same element. The alloys are prepared by homogenizing all the components except magnesium in the liquid state at 620 to 650‹ C cooling to around 480‹C, incorporating magnesium, if any, re-heating and tapping at 450-550‹C. The cast alloy may be rolled or extruded, optionally wire-drawn and annealed to produce nails, slate hooks and screw-cutting blanks.
