Abstract

1355533 Nickel-base alloy SPECIAL METALS CORP 28 May 1971 [1 June 1970] 18113/71 Heading C7A A nickel-base alloy consists, by weight percent, of 14À2 to 20% cobalt 13À7 to 16% chromium 3À8 to 5À5% molybdenum 2À75 to 3À75% titanium 3À75 to 4À75% aluminium 0À005 to 0À035% boron up to 0À18% carbon up to 4% iron up to 0À5% zirconium up to 0À5% hafnium up to 0À75% niobium up to 0À5% rhenium up to 0À75% tantalum up to 1% manganese up to 3% tungsten up to 0À5% rare earths. the balance being nickel and incidental impurities. The alloy has a structure which includes particles which are randomly-dispersed and irregularlyshaped, having diameters generally less than 0À35 microns being gamma-prime intermetallic compounds of nickel with aluminium and titanium, together with other precipitates which improve grain boundary ductility. This structure is achieved by repeated heating and cooling steps, the heating being first at over 2000‹F. preferably at over 2125‹F. then secondly at between 1500‹ and 1850‹F. and thirdly at 1350‹ to 1450‹F, with intermediate cooling steps.
