Abstract
931,412. Steam superheaters. A. HUET. Dec. 18, 1959 [Dec. 22, 1958], No. 43175/59. Class 123 (3). In a heat-exchanger or steam generator installation which improves the mixing of one of the fluids in a main header a located remote from the furnace the main header a, made of ferrous steel, is connected to austenitic steel sub-headers b, c, d, e by means of connecting tubes of composite construction, the ferrous steel portions of the connecting tubes f, g, h leading from the main header being joined by the limbs of branched ferrous steel tubes k, l, m to double the number of austenitic steel tubes i<SP>1</SP> . . . i<SP>6</SP> which are of smaller diameter and lead from the sub-headers b, c, d, e. As shown, each sub-header is connected to the main header a by two sets of connecting tubes which, each comprising the tube components #, g, h; k, l, m and i<SP>1</SP> . . . i<SP>6</SP>, are arranged on either side of a vertical axis, Fig. 2. The end of each limb of the branched tubes k, l, m is bevelled at o to facilitate welding to the corresponding austenitic steel tubes i. The ends of the tubes i<SP>1</SP> . . . i<SP>6</SP> may be beaded instead of, or in addition to the bevelling o. The tubes i<SP>1</SP> . . . i<SP>6</SP> of reduced wall thickness, have an increased elasticity to more readily absorb thermal expansion differences.
