677,827. Internal flues of steam boilers. THOMPSON (WOLVERHAMPTON), Ltd., J., and HARTLAND, H. March 8, 1951. [March 29, 1950], No. 7809/50. Class 123(ii) The furnace end 10 of a Lancashire &c. boiler flue tube comprises a plain tube reinforced by spaced encircling rings or bands 11 of flat cross-section welded edgewise thereto. The remainder of the flue tube preferably comprises a number of aligned corrugated tubular sections 12 welded together end-to-end at 13, and each joint 13 may be reinforced by an encircling ring, not shown, welded on a tube adjacent the joint. The forward corrugated section 12 is welded at 14 to the section 10, and the rear section 12, which may be provided with an end reinforcing ring, is welded or riveted at 15 directly to the outlet 16 in the rear end plate 17 of the boiler shell 18.
