Abstract
813,802. Gas burners. FLEXONICS CORPORATION. Aug. 9, 1955 [Aug. 9, 1954], No. 22939/55. Class 75(1) In a gas burner of tubular section at least a portion of the burner is of flexible sheet metal material with circumferential corrugations and with a series of longitudinal spaced openings therein. The burner is formed from a metal tube which is annularly or helically corrugated at 29 throughout its length. The corrugated portion can be bent laterally or extended or compressed longitudinally. The gas openings are formed by grinding or any other cutting means a kerf 30 in the apices of the convolutions to provide openings 32. To vary the flame size the depth of the openings 32 are varied or more than one row of openings are provided. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 8 the burner comprises a length of straight non-corrugated tubing 34 of any configuration and length welded or brazed to a corrugated portion 28. The inlet of the tube 34 is flared at 38 and is provided with a coupling 22 and the end of the corrugated tube 28 is flared at 44 to provide a fluid tight seal with a coupling 40 closed by a plug 42. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 1 gas is supplied to a manifold 18 through a pipe 10 controlled by a valve 14 and air through a pipe 12 controlled by a valve 16. Each burner 28 is supplied from the manifold 18 through a valve 26.
