Abstract
871,657. Water tube steam boilers; tubular heat-exchange elements. SVENSKA MASKINVERKEN A. B. Nov. 11, 1958 [Nov. 13, 1957], No. 36227/58. Classes 64(3) and 123(2) A composite, waste-heat, water-tube, boiler comprises an annular steam and water drum 14, 15 which accomodates, within an inner wall 22, a direct-fired boiler and is housed in a casing 11 having an inlet 12 and an outlet 13 for the flue gases e.g. of a diesel engine. The drum 14, 15 has a number of radial distribution headers 17 between which and the conical upper portion of the drum is connected a plurality of concentric rings of vertical tubes 18 carrying pin fins 19 comprising copper wires which may each have an outer steel sheath. The direct-fired boiler comprising a fireplace 23, a flue gas duct, 24, and a muffle 25 for a burner, not shown, has finned steam generating tubes 26 which communicate, through extensions 29, 28 respectively, with the steam and water spaces 15, 14 of the drum.
