Abstract
1,076,875. Tubular heat exchangers. LA FLEUR CORPORATION. May 31, 1965 [June 1, 1964], No. 23018/65. Heading F4S. [Also in Division F2] A heat exchanger comprises an inlet header 16 and an outlet header 18 mounted one on each side of a housing 11 and between which extend a plurality of flexible tubes 20 each suspended in the form of a catenary curve between the headers. Preferably the tubes are thin-walled tubes of stainless steel, the tube ends being secured to the headers 16, 18 by welding (Fig. 3) or rolling (Fig. 5). In use, helium gas used as the working fluid in a gas-turbine power plant, flows through the tubes and is heated by hot combustion gases flowing through the housing 11 from an inlet 12 to an outlet 14. Heat insulation 15a covers the housing and the headers.
