Abstract

906,431. Clamps. KEELE, K., and KEELE, H. C. June 5, 1961 [March 4, 1960], No. 7687/60. Class 44. A device 1 for releasably connecting one end of a frame member 2 to a second frame member 3 extending transversely to the first, comprises a hook-part 4 for attachment to the first member 2 and adapted to be engaged with the second member 3 by movement of the first member transversely of the axis of the second member, a retaining member 11 pivotally mounted on the hook part 4 and adapted to close the bight of the hook part so as to retain the latter in engagement with the second member 3 and over-deadcentre locking means for securing the retaining member in its closed position. As shown, the locking means comprises a rod 22 which is screwed into a rotatably mounted block 17 pivoted on the retaining member 11 and abuts, in the closed position of the latter, a recess 25 in the part 4. The part 4 is secured to the member 2 by means of a slotted sleeve 5 which is expanded into gripping engagement with the member 2 by a wedging member 8 as the latter is drawn into the sleeve by a screw 32.
