Abstract

1,012,730. Releasable fastenings. SEKIDEN KAGAKU KOGYO CO. Ltd. June 13, 1962 [June 14, 1961], No. 22653/62. Heading E2B. A clip device comprises a pair of pivotably connected members 11, 12 having jaws 20, 21, at one end thereof for engagement with an article to be clipped, and a generally U- shaped spring 14 arranged between the members and biasing the jaws to a closed position, the spring including means along its length by which the clip device can be hung from a support, such hanging action causing the spring to distort and thereby augment the force acting to close the jaws. As shown the hanging means is a member 19 which engages a substantially central loop 17, of the spring 14, the ends of which abut the ends 16 of grooves 15 in handle portions of the members 11, 12. In a modification instead of a closed loop 17, the spring is formed with a U-shaped open loop which can engage the support directly although a member 19 can be provided if desired. In another construction one of the grooves extends to the top of the handle portion and the spring extends beyond the groove and terminates in a hook forming the means for engaging the support. The jaws are provided with rubber rings 23 to enhance the grip but these can be omitted if desired.
