A clip comprises a pair of components 10, 11 each having a jaw 14 and a finger piece 13 connected to it, the arrangement of the components being such that the jaws are capable of relative movement between an open position in which an article to be gripped can be inserted or removed and a closed position in which the jaws are disposed to grip such an article, the jaws in the closed position being in contact with one another when no article is gripped therebetween, spring means 17 urging the jaws towards closed position, each of the components incorporating a rod-engaging part 15, 16, the rod engaging parts of the two components together defining an opening through which a rod is capable of being passed in all relative positions of the jaws and the rod-engaging parts also together defining a gap in the boundary of the opening when the jaws are in or near the open position, the gap, when the jaws are in or near this position, being of a size to permit lateral removal of the clip from the rod. Each component has an integral peripheral skirt 12 and midway of the length of each component the skirt is extended outwards towards the other component to form the parts 15, 15, 16, 16. The parts 16 are located between the parts 15 on the other component. Each part 15, 16 is formed with a slot which extends at an angle to the length of the component and opens adjacent the fingerpieces. The two components are connected by the spring 17, the ends of which are received in the fingerpieces and retained by tags 18.
