649,913. Hooks. HUDSON, M. L. Feb. 9, 1948, No. 3682. [Class 89(ii)] [Also in Group XXXIII] A hook of the type detachably supported on a pole and attached to a mooring rope described in Specification 223,726, [Class 113(i)], has the hook provided with a projection 19 that engages a recess in the end of the spring latch 14, when in the closed position, to prevent lateral deflection should the latch, come under load. When the hook is mounted in the slotted end of the pole socket the latch is held in the recess 16 so that the hook is open for engagement with a mooring ring. The mooring rope is attached to a ring (not shown) secured in the hole 17 and located in the slot of the socket. The hook has a projection 20 in line with the shank to permit use for fending off and a hole (not shown) may be drilled through the pole socket and shank to receive a withdrawable pin during such use.
