Abstract

578,937. Stud fastenings. VARNDELL, S. H. July 24, 1944, No. 14068. [Class 44] [Also in Group XXX] The hinged plate 5 of a snatch block is locked in its closed position by a member 13 pivoted at 17 on the plate and provided with a slot engaging over a stud 16 on the member 11 on which the shackle eye 12 is mounted. When the plate 5 is closed, the member 13 is first pivoted to the dotted line position shown in Fig. 1 in which an enlarged portion 15 of the slot engages over the stud 16, and is then pivoted to the full line position to be locked by the stud. Fig. 3 shows a modified form of the member 13 provided with chamfered corners 26 which co-operate with the step 27 on the part 24 to limit its movement.
