Abstract

901,498. Refrigerators. McCRAY REFRIGERATOR CO. Inc. April 12, 1961 [June 27, 1960], No. 13125/61. Class 29. A refrigerated display case comprises an open-front display compartment, a storage compartment located rearwardly of said display compartment, the rear wall of the latter being perforated, means for enabling cold air from the storage compartment to flow downwardly into the top of the display compartment, means in the lower portion of the latter for returning said air to said storage compartment and ' means for maintaining a pressure in the storage compartment whereby cold air is caused to flow forwardly into the display compartment through the perforated rear wall. A fan 36 draws air from the rear storage compartment 21, passes it over an evaporator 40 and supplies it to the display compartment 16 which is provided with shelves 25, 26, 27. A fan 47, of larger capacity, with draws this air and air which has entered the compartment from the rear through perforations 24 in the rear wall 20 and passes the air over a further evaporator 49 and into the compartment 21, the latter being provided with a fan 53 and evaporator 55 in its upper rear corner. The compartment 21 is large enough to permit human entry and is provided with storage line shelves 52. The wall 20 may be composed of several sliding partitions and lights 33, 35 and label holders 32 are provided in the display compartment. In the modification of Fig. 4 (not shown), the fan 36 and evaporator 40 are omitted and replaced by a perforated partition; evaporator 40 alone or evaporator 49 may also be omitted.
