Abstract

867,292. Refrigerators. WHIRLPOOL CORPORATION. Sept. 24, 1959 [Nov. 25, 1958], No. 32544/59. Class 29. In a refrigerator having a lower freezer (not shown) and an upper storage compartment 12, a fan 40 in the upper rear of the latter forces air downwardly over a plate evaporator 51 in a rear flue 52, 55 from the lower end of which part of the chilled air flows to the lower part of the compartment and the remainder is diverted by a baffle 59 into a hollow shelf 30 from which it is discharged through front apertures 39 into the storage compartment in the region of the door 14. Scoops 47 divert some of the chilled air flowing in the shelf into a suspended container 46. Crisper pans 26 are mounted in the lower part of the compartment. The rear flue 52, 55 is defined by a removable corrugated member 48. Shelf 30 is also removable.
