Abstract

1,176,504. Refrigerators. KELVINATOR Inc. 6 Oct., 1967 [14 Nov., 1966], No. 45957/67. Heading F4H. In a refrigerator having a lower temperature compartment 12 and a higher temperature compartment 14, a fan 80 passes mixed air from the compartments over series connected evaporator sections 40 and 42 to return to the lower temperature compartment at 62 and 64, and openings 78 are provided in the wall 26 separating the compartments to allow a free flow of air between them. Air from the compartment 12 reaches the fan through an opening 70 and air from the compartment 14 passes to the fan through a conduit 74 in the wall 26. A sliding damper 90 having different sized apertures may be used to control the flow cross-section of the entrance to the conduit 74. A temperature senser 88 in the lower temperature compartment controls the fan 80 and the compressor of the refrigeration circuit of which the evaporator forms part. The compartments 12 and 14 are arranged side by side and have vertically hinged access doors 16 and 18.
