[Also in Group XIII] Perishable goods, such as meat, are suspended spaced from a shop, &c. wall 10 on hooks 11 and are protected from the main body of the shop by a curtain 25 of cold air issuing from apertures 24 in a supply manifold 15 and entering a return duct 18 through apertures 22, the air being withdrawn from each end of duct 18 by a fan 21 located in end ducts 19 and returning the air to manifold 15 by way of refrigerant evaporators 23. Between each fan and its associated evaporator air may be bled from the circuit through an adjustable throttle to change the air. A rear mirror 31 is provided and additional cold air is supplied to the storage space through front and rear upper apertures 26, 28 in the manifold 15 and through apertures 33 in vertical pipes 32 also supplied from manifold 15. A baffle 27 prevents air from apertures 26, 28 from directly impinging on the meat. The lower ends of pipes 32 discharge cold air through apertures 37 into a display slab 35 on a counter 36. In a modification, Fig. 4, the evaporators 23 are located in the top duct 15, the cold air is supplied to the storage space between staggered trough-shaped baffles 40, 41, 42 which drain off condensate, a lower grid 56 for meat trays 57 is provided, and refrigerated cupboards 55 are fed with cold air through passage 53 and through apertures 59 at the bottom of pipes 32. Baffles 49 prevent flow of cold air along the trough-like baffles 40, 41, 42 and have apertures 50 for drainage of condensate. Lights 45 are provided.
