Abstract

1,064,318. Refrigerators. H. L. BUFFINGTON. May 15, 1964 [Dec. 30, 1963], No. 20326/64. Heading F4H. A refrigerator comprises a housing 90 mounted on the rear wall of the liner of the cabinet 10, the housing having an upper portion which encloses an evaporator (not shown) and has air outlets 100 and 108 in its front and end walls, respectively, and a lower portion which comprises a front wall 92 formed with upper and lower sets of air outlet openings 102 and 104, respectively, and end walls formed with outlets 110. An open bottomed air inlet duct 114 having further inlets 118 is secured to wall 92 and communicates through an aperture in the latter with the lower portion of housing 90, a fan being disposed in said aperture. Water from the housing and the interior of the cabinet is led through hose 42 and outlet 36, respectively, to a drain in the base of the cabinet and then passes through an external pipe 152 to a tray 160 mounted beneath the machinery compartment 54. The drain may be flushed out by connecting a hose thereto in place of pipe 152. Tray 160 contains a slab of moisture absorbent material. The conduits connecting the compressor-condenser unit with the evaporator are disposed in a channel formed in the outer surface of the rear wall of the cabinet, the channel being provided with a removable cover so that the refrigeration system may be removed as a unit from the cabinet. Removable divider gratings 180 are provided in the cabinet with the rear ends of their horizontal cross-members disposed in any pair of apertures 102, 104 and their front ends in recesses (not shown) in the front wall of the cabinet.
