Abstract

897,355. Collapsible boxes. ESSEX CORRUGATED CONTAINERS CO. Ltd. Dec. 30, 1960 [March 31, 1960], No. 11375/60. Class 18. A collapsible box of cardboard or the like comprises a central portion 1, formed from two substantially L shaped pieces 2, and wing portions 4 whose panels 4<SP>1</SP> and 4<SP>2</SP> form the top and bottom of the box when erected. Extensions 6 on the panels 4<SP>2</SP>, which are folded upwardly within the box so that slots 9 engage with slots 8, constitute a central partition and apertures 7 register with one another to provide a hand-hold. In another embodiment further extensions are provided on the extensions 6 which fold inwardly of the handle portions and are slotted to engage with the tops of the side walls of the central portion 1 in the region above the slots 8. In this case tabs 5 pass within the extensions 6 in contrast to the positioning of the tabs as shown in Fig 3.
