Abstract

936,705. Stacking cartons. INDUSTRIAL CONTAINERS Ltd. Nov. 1, 1961 [Sept. 14, 1961], No. 39186/61. Class 18. A stacking carton is formed from a single blank, Fig. 1, in such a way that extensions 8, 16 on general panels 6, 14 project through slots 30 in the base to form projections facilitating stacking, the projections engaging cut out portions 29 of a lower carton, and extensions 19 form downwardly extending projections which grip the top of a lower carton, Fig. 7, In the erected carton the panels 6, 14 lie between inner and outer end panels 21, 26. In a modification (not shown) the projections 8, 16 and recesses 7, 15 are not used the stacking properties of panel 19 only being used. In a further modification, flaps are cut in panel 3 to form a hinged central partition to assist in supporting the base of a superposed carton. The top carton in a stack may be provided with a lid. Ventilation holes may be provided in the side walls.
