A cardboard container comprises side walls 24, 25 with integral, hinged side flaps 31, 32, end walls (42), Fig. 1 (not shown), 52, which are higher than the side walls by the thickness of the side flaps, the end walls having integral, hinged end flaps 43, 53 and two rectangular wooden inserts (46, 56), Fig. 1 (not shown). The inserts (46, 56) which are covered with paper (47, 48), Fig. 2 (not shown), and glued to the end walls, are exactly the same height as the side walls 24, 25 so that when the end flaps 43, 53 are glued on to the side flaps 31, 32, a container is formed which may be easily stacked. Lines of weakness 33 &c. consist of perforations having a tapered cross-section as illustrated in Fig. 10 (not shown).
