Abstract

886,121. Gas-blast switches. BROWN, BOVERI & CIE A.G. March 27, 1958 [March 28, 1957], No. 9882/58. Class 38 (5). A gas-blast circuit-breaker which may have resistors in parallel with the main contacts includes a series interrupting device or devices, such as that shown in Fig. 1, which have a plurality of coaxial nozzles 3, 4, 5 for arc extinction. The nozzles 4, 5 are of insulating material and the nozzle 3 is the fixed contact. Gas from the exhaust chamber 6 of the nozzle contact 3 passes to the atmosphere through a throttle 7 of smaller cross-section than the smallest nozzle 3. In Fig. 2 (not shown), two main interrupters with parallel resistors are in series with three secondary interrupters each with two nozzles.
