Abstract

948,876. Gas-blast switches. WESTINGHOUSE ELECTRIC CORPORATION. Feb. 27, 1962 [March 1, 1961], No. 7554/62. Heading H2B. In a gas-blast switch generally similar to that described in Specification 885,932, each contact pair 23, 26 is associated with a piston controlled probe 51 movable as extinguishing gas (from the blast-valve 33) in the space 56 enters a tube 54 and cylinder 61. The probe engages the tubular movable contact 23 and connects an impedance 47 across the contacts 23, 26 and the residual arc 58 is also in the path of the gas-blast.
