Abstract

816,309. Air-blast switches. ALLMANNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKA A.B. May 16, 1957 [May 22, 1956], No. 15538/57. Class 38 (5). An air-blast switch has a number of interrupting elements each comprising a metallic compressed air container 1 carried by a pillar insulator 14 and provided with a lead-in insulator 3 carrying a fixed contact 2 and a mechanism 5 carrying a movable contact. A shunt resistor 7 with an associated " breaking gap " having fixed and movable contacts 6, 13, is carried within and supported by an auxiliary metallic container or dome 10 attached to the container 1 and extending perpendicularly thereto. The interrupting elements may be arranged in oppositely directed pairs on the pillar insulators as described in Specification 769,831, in which case voltage distributing condensers may be arranged in insulators 18 extending between and slightly above the interrupting elements.
