Class 38(5) A gas-blast circuit-breaker has several power interrupting points 5, each formed by two arc extinguishing units 3, 4, e.g. of the "free-jet". type, carried on insulating columns 2, each column carrying one or more additional insulators 6 for the support of potential controlling impedances 7, 8 and isolating switches 10. In Fig. 1, each column carries one insulator 6 which encloses an isolating switch 10, but in Fig. 2 (not shown) each column carries two insulators 6 arranged side-by-side and carrying between them an open isolating switch.
