759,574. Air-blast switches. ALLMANNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKA AKTIEBOLAGET. Aug. 16 1954 [Aug. 31, 1953], No. 23748/54. Class 38(5) In a high-tension air-blast circuitbreaker comprising a plurality of containers 6, each housing a breaking gap, which gaps are series connected, means maintaining a supply of compressed air in each container for arc-extinction and separate pipes 5 for the supply of operating air to each container, the containers 6 are arranged in a circle at the centre of which is a common valve 9 controlling the supply of air to the pipes 5 which extend radially from the valve to their respective containers. Each container 6 is provided with two lead-in insulators 11, each of which supports a stationary contact, a movable bridging contact being mounted in the container. The containers are connected together, via the insulators 11, by pipes 10 through which and one of the pipes 5 compressed air for arc-extinction is supplied. The pipes 10 may be of copper so that they serve additionally for the series connection of the breaking gaps. Insulators 8 between the containers may house condensers for control of voltage distribution, and the containers 6 may also house additional breaking contacts for parallel resistances arranged in insulators 7. Instead of being mounted in one plane, the pipes 5 may be arranged in the manner of spokes in a bicycle wheel.
