Abstract
878,454. Egg cartons. DIAMOND NATIONAL CORPORATION. Feb. 29, 1960 [July 10, 1959], No. 7094/60. Class 18. An egg carton is formed from the blank shown in Fig. 1 by first folding along line 36, then folding along the line dividing the cross partition panel 19 and securing a flap 20 with adhesive to a rear wall 13, from this knocked down state the carton is erected by automatic means. The carton comprises a front wall 18, bottom walls 14, 17, rear wall 13, a lid 12, a central longitutudinal partitions 15, 16, full depth partitions 40, 41, and shallower partitions 42, 43. Slits 21, 39 in members 14-17, provide cushioning means for the eggs. Hook portions 45 on the partitions engage slots 22 in the members 14, 17. The full depth partitions have leg portions 44 that resist crushing of the cartons when stacked. Triangular concave areas 53 are formed adjacent the central fold line 36. In a modification the slits 21, 39 are replaced by openings, the opening in the members 15, 16 being in the form of vertical slits.
