Abstract

973,631. Cartons. H. T. HAILEY, and H. E. HAILEY. Feb. 14, 1963 [Feb. 20, 1962; May 1, 1962], Nos. 6437/62 and 16533/62. Heading B8P. A carton for eggs and the like articles, preferably made from a single blank, comprises intermediate panels 15, 16 having articlereceiving apertures 20, the panels being spaced both from top and bottom walls 11, 12 and from one another, and the carton is completely open on two opposite sides so that the contents are fully open to inspection. Push-out flaps 30 strengthen rear wall 10, flaps 25 support panels 11 and 15 above panels 12 and 16 when passed through dovetailed slots 27, and flaps 22 form a support for panel 16 by co-operation with tabs 23. A preferred material for the carton is double-faced fine-fluted corrugated board and the filled carton may be wrapped in a transparent material. According to the first Provisional Specification, push-out flaps from panel 16 similar to flaps 25 may extend upwardly and have inturned tabs at their upper ends which are tucked into slots near the top of front wall 13.
