Abstract
851,359. Cartons. AHLEN & AKERLUND FORPACKNING A.B. Feb. 6, 1957 [June 20, 1956], No. 4055/57. Class 18. In a collapsible cardboard box made from a single block as in Fig. 1, side walls 1, 2, 3, 4 form a closed frame (flap 54 of the wall 1 being pasted to the free edge of the wall 4) and the bottom is formed of sections 5, 6, 7, 8 each hinged to the lower edge of a side wall, a partition panel 9, 10, 11, 12 being hinged to the edge of each bottom section ; the partitions that lie face-to-face at each of the two diagonally opposite corners of the collapsed box are connected together by pasting flaps 34, 35 of the partitions 10, 12 to the partitions 9, 11 to move in unison to erect the partitions as the bottom sections are moved into place. The width of the bottom sections 5, 7 is such that the partitions 9, 11 are spaced, whereas that of the bottom sections 6, 8 is such that the partitions 10, 12 are face-to-face, and at least one of the latter is longer than the cell of which it forms one side thus providing extension panels 30, 31 which pass through openings 38, 39 in the spaced partitions 9, 11 and subdivide compartments bounded by these partitions. A lid 13 is hinged to the top edge of the side wall 2. In the collapsed condition the bottom sections and partitions lie between the collapsed side walls, and the carton is erected simply by pressure on the diagonally opposite corners at 56, 58.
