Abstract
866,368. Gas-blast switches. BROWN, BOVERI & CIE A.G. April 23, 1958 [April 23, 1957], No. 12920/58. Class 38 (5). A circuit-breaker generally similar to that of Specification 803,714, has the contacts of the auxiliary interrupter in series with the resistor 5 and which are opened by the magnetic effect of the current which passes through the resistor. A conductor coil 17 in series with the resistor attracts an iron core 18 attached to the piston contact 10 to move it against the bias of springs 9. If the current in the resistor is insufficient to produce attraction of the core 18 pressure air will pass through a throttle 22 to act on a piston 19 to open the contacts 4, 10 after a time lag. The resistor itself may be constructed as the actuating coil, or the opening force may be provided by a spring when released.
