Abstract
1,058,249. Actuation of switches. ALLMANNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKA AB. Nov. 29, 1963 [Dec. 1, 1962], No. 47173/63. Heading H2B. [Also in Division F2] An operating device for a circuit-breake<SP>r</SP> includes a magnetic holding device comprising a permanent magnet 11 attracting an armature 13 against a strong spring 19 and a rod 33 for separating the armature from the magnet. When an insulator column 9 is moved upwardly, rod 33 separates the armature 13 from the magnet and spring 19 moves a rod 21 with the armature rapidly upwards to change over a valve 26 thus applying compressed air from a reservoir 1 to an actuator 6 to open a contact 4. Compressed air also enters a conduit 32 driving a piston 17 downwards to reset the holding device. When a second insulator 10 is moved upwardly to release a second magnetic holding- device a spring 20 changes over a second valve 30 to vent conduit 32 thus returning valve 26 to the position shown. Air then escapes from conduit 7 through conduit 29 resetting the second holding device and the contacts reopen. Forks 36, 37 are attached to the insulators 9, 10 for resetting the armatures if they fail to reset automatically as described.
