Abstract

828,589. Air-blast switches. ALLMANNA SVENSKA A.B. May 14, 1958 [May 23, 1957], No. 15414/58. Class 38 (5). An air - blast circuitbreaker of the type having a number of containers permanently filled with compressed - air and arranged on pillar insulators, comprises a container 1 carrying a leading - through insulator 2 2 with seal 9 against which a disc 5 is held by a bolt 8 whose end 10 serves as an arcing contact. Stationary contact blocks 6 arranged in the disc 5 are actuated by springs 7 towards a movable contact 12 with an outlet channel 13, and having a valve disc 1411 seating against a seal 11 in the disc 5. A piston 14<SP>1</SP> joined to the movable contact 12 divides the interior of a housing 15 into spaces 24, 27, normally at atmospheric pressure, the space 24 communicating via channels 25, 26 with an operating valve (not shown) and the space 27 communicating by a channel 28 with a space 29 and channel 13 through openings in the contact blocks 6. To open, compressedair is admitted to space 24 and when the valve disc 14<SP>11</SP> leaves the seating 11, the pressure in space 27 rises to equal that in container 1 and hence only a small closing spring 23 is required to close the contacts, when the space 24 is exhausted to atmosphere by the operating valve.
