Class 64(3) An indirect heater comprises a vessel having a fire tube and a fluid conduit both extending into the vessel from the outside, the fire tube being secured to the' wall of the vessel through which it extends, by means of a bellows device. A vessel is constructed from a cylindrical shell 2 with end plates 3 and 4, through which extend respectively a fire tube 9 and an inlet 22 and outlet 24, Fig. 3 (not shown) for coils 23 through which the fluid to be heated passes. The vessel is filled with salt through the holes 30 which is molten in operation but solidifies when cool. In order to allow for thermal expansion of the fire tube when the burner .11 is first started and the salt is solid around the tube a bellows device 12 is used to connect the fire tube to the end wall 3. Thermal expansion of the exhaust stack 16 is allowed for in providing the flange 20 with weather shield 21. The invention could also be used in a heater with a double U-type fire tube,
