Abstract
787,609. Hot-water boilers. MASCHINENFABRIK BREMEN GES. Dec. 29,1955 No. 37291/55. Class 64(1) In a water heater having a water jacket 10 surrounding a vertical flue 13, combustion gases flowing from an inlet 2 in the lower part of the casing 1 are deflected into the flue 13 by a hollow part-spherical deflector 4, through which cold water flows to the water jacket 10. In the form shown, the deflector 4 is a double-walled partspherical hollow body, the lower end of which is connected to the cold water supply by a pipe 5 protected from the hot gases by a plate 7. Corrugated plates such as 9 may be provided on the wall 8 and on the wall of the flue 13, to increase heat transfer. The flue 13 and an annular flue 15 between the jacket 10 and casing 1 both discharge into an outlet 17. The deflector 4 may alternatively be a serpentine tube.
