Abstract
1,049,941. Air heating stoves; heat exchangers. W. K. PEYTO. Jan. 8, 1965 [Jan. 9, 1964], No. 1116/64. Heading F4S. In an air heater a corrugated heat exchange wall 13 separating two gases is located between and close to an inner body 11 and an outer casing 12, and baffles 18, 19, 21 are provided to cause gas flowing between the corrugated wall and the inner body to take a lengthened path. As shown the corrugated wall 13 lies in an annular space between a cylindrical outer casing 12 and inner body 11. A tube 76 houses a burner and is mounted to the outer casing, projecting through a duct 36 which flexibly connects the outer casing and a heat shield 78 to a combustion chamber 27. Combustion gases from the chamber 27 pass through a coupler 28 to the space between the wall 13 and the inner body 11, and thence to a smoke box 33 and flue 34. A central radial baffle 18.extending through a part of the height of the corrugations and side baffles 19, 21 cause the combustion gases to flow in a quasi helical path to the smoke box 33. Air to be heated flows from a fan (not shown) around the outside of the combustion chamber 27 and over the corrugated wall 13. The smoke box 33, flue 34 and inner body 11 can be removed after releasing bolts holding them to a ring 45. The ring 45 is welded to a plate 32 which is welded to the wall 13. The baffles can be removed after releasing bolts 44. The assembly comprising the smoke box, corrugated wall and combustion chamber is supported by arms 49 and by brackets 52 which rest on platforms 53, Fig. 2 (not shown).
